Internship Program
The Phoenix Media/Communications Group internship program has been
structured to provide beneficial and educational intern assignments to
qualified and motivated college students, preferably those who could receive
college credit. Internships are available at the Worcester Phoenix
in editorial, graphic design, research, finance and sales departments.
We are actively recruiting for summer and fall 2000 internships. Positions
do tend to fill quickly so students should send resumes in as soon as possible.
We require that all interns be
enrolled in classes and must be able to make 12 - 15 hour per week
commitment to the company. All internships are unpaid. Any student interested
in being considered for any of the following internships should send a resume
and cover letter to the address above. Students interested in applying for
editorial internships should also forward copies of writing samples and/or clips
for our review.

Intern comments
Working at the Worcester Phoenix as an intern has been an invaluable resource
of knowledge. I have gained experience in many areas of graphic design from
tasks on several software programs, including Adobe PhotoShop,
QuarkXpress, Freehand 8 and more. The skills I have obtained from my
internship have allowed me to freelance for several businesses,
and launch a website business of my own.

"I most enjoyed the degree to which I was accepted as 'part' of the
Phoenix - and the trust that was shown in giving me substantial pieces, having
me edit '8 days,' etc. I thought everyone was wonderful and, for an intern, I
was shown a degree of trust and respect that meant a lot to me.

"I enjoyed the fact that I was trusted to make my own design choices.
Also, everyone is very friendly and made me feel comfortable right
away."
